January 2012
- As of 2012 IFA Members will be given the opportunity to individually opt for accessing the future Cahiers online only. From 15 December next to 1 March 2012 the Central IFA website will include the facility to opt for being removed from the distribution list of the printed Cahiers. If you wish to do so, please click here to log-in to the Members Only chapter and choose the section "Change Personal details". If no option is activated, you will continue to receive the paper copy of the Cahiers.
- The online Invitation Programme of the 30 September - 5 October 2012 Boston Congress with registration form will become available by the end of January 2012 at www.ifaboston2012.com. Hard copies of the Invitation Programme with registration form will be mailed to all IFA members during mid of February 2012.
- Conference in honor of Professor Hugh Ault - 29 September 2012 - Boston, USA
- IFA has initiated a so-called " Poster Programme" to attract young students to international taxation. The programme is open to a maximum of ten students graduating in international taxation who are writing a thesis on a purely theoretical or more practical subject. Young persons are invited to apply for the Poster Programme at the 2012 Boston Congress before 1 April 2012. For full information please click here.
- IFA has instituted the Mitchell B. Carroll Prize to encourage scientific work. This Prize is awarded for a work dealing with international fiscal questions, comparative fiscal law or local fiscal law with the emphasis on the relationships with the fiscal law of foreign jurisdictions. Competition for the Prize is open to lawyers, accountants and economists. There is a age limit of 35. Papers entered for the Prize for 2012 should be submitted with six (hard) copies on or before 1 April 2012. For full information please click here.
- In 2010 IFA launched the Maurice Lauré Prize. IFA has instituted this Prize in order to encourage scientific work on international indirect taxation. The Prize is named in honour of Maurice Lauré, who was instrumental in the first implementation of the Value Added Tax System in France, now applied in more than 160 jurisdictions. There is a age limit of 35. Papers entered for the Prize for 2012 should be submitted with six (hard) copies on or before 1 April 2012. For full information please click here.

- Please check the Calendar of Activitities of the IFA Branches on a regular basis. Information is available on the date(s), place, participating Branch(es), topics, language in which the meetings are conducted and an email address of website for further information.
- On 15 June 2012 the 2012 Cahiers will become available and will be distributed to the IFA members. As an extra service, online versions of the IFA Cahiers as from 1980 have been made available on the website of IFA's Sister Organisation, the International Bureau of Fiscal Documentation (IBFD) in Amsterdam. IFA members in "good standing" (i.e. having no arrears in their annual membership fees) can access these publications free of charge via the secured section of the IFA website. As the number of IFA Members who make use of tablets such as I-Pad is growing, the Cahiers are also available in E-pub format as of 2011. The Cahiers in E-pub can be downloaded from the secured part of the IFA website.
- The Congress Documents Database contains papers as from the 1998 London Congress. Documents pertaining to the 2012 Boston Congress, including Issues Papers, Case Studies and presentation slides will be added to this Database. The Documents Databases also contain documents and links which are considered to be of interest to the IFA members, such as the activities reports of other International Associations with whom IFA has contacts including the EU, ICC and OECD.
- Please click on the relevant Congress for information on the scientific programmes of our 2012 Boston and 2013 Copenhagen Congresses as decided upon by our Permanent Scientific Committee in September 2011. For information on the 2012 Boston Congress please visit www.ifaboston2012.com and for the 2013 Copenhagen Congress www.ifacopenhagen2013.com. The Congress websites are updated on a regular basis.
- More than 2.300 participants and 500 accompanying persons attended the 2011 Annual IFA Congress in Paris, France. Amongst others Mr. Manuel E. Tron (President IFA) and Mr. Jeffrey Owens (Director OECD) were speakers at the Opening Ceremony. Please click on their names for their speeches. Next to the social programme the Paris Congress featured an excellent scientific programme and IFA would like to thank everyone involved for their contributions. The proceedings of the scientific programme are available on the IFA website whereas the pictures of the Congress are available on the Congress website www.ifaparis2011.com.
- The "Central Organisation" section of the website has been updated. In this section you will find who are the Committee members of our Association; as well as the Annual Report 2010/2011 by the Secretary General.
