Professor Miranda Stewart LLD is a Professor specialising in taxation law at the University of Melbourne Law School and a Visiting Professor at New York University School of Law, where she directs the International Tax program. Professor Stewart is also an Honorary Professor at the Tax and Transfer Policy Institute, the Crawford School of Public Policy, Australian National University. Professor Stewart researches and teaches on a range of international and domestic tax law topics, including her leading book Tax and Government in the 21st Century (2022, Cambridge University Press).

Andrew Mills is the Chair of the Financial Reporting Council, a member of the Board of Taxation, a Principal Fellow at Melbourne University Law School and a member of the Tax and Transfer Policy Institute Advisory Board. Andrew is also chair or a member of other boards and committees. Previously, Andrew was the Second Commissioner, Law Design & Practice, at the Australian Taxation Office from 2013–2019.

Andrew has 40 years’ experience in taxation, including periods in the ATO, commerce and the tax profession. Andrew was a Director-Partner at Greenwoods & Freehills for more than 20 years and managing director of the firm from 2006 to 2011. Andrew was President of The Tax Institute in 2006–2007 and is a former Governor of the Taxation Research Foundation.
Andrew holds a Bachelor of Business, a Master of Laws and a Graduate Diploma in Tax Law. Andrew is a Chartered Taxation Adviser (Life), a Certified Practising Accountant (CPA), a Fellow of the Governance Institute of Australia, a Graduate member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and a member of the International Fiscal Association.

Amanda is an experienced Tax Lawyer at King & Wood Mallesons focusing on the provision of comprehensive tax restructuring, advisory and/or litigation solutions to multinational clients.

Dr Tadmore leads the tax practice of Jones Day in Australia.  He has over 25 years of experience advising national and international clients on the conduct and resolution of tax audits, tax disputes, and large-scale transactions.  His practice focuses on tax dispute resolution, principally representing MNEs in respect of disputes involving international tax, treaty, transfer pricing and anti-avoidance matters. Dr Tadmore is president of the Australian Branch of IFA and was the founding Chair of the IFA Supervisory Board. He has also served as a member of key Australian Treasury and Tax Office committees, and is a member of the Melbourne University Tax Advisory Board and the New York University International Tax Program Practice Council.

Chloe Burnett SC is a tax barrister based in Sydney, Australia.  She has appeared in a number of significant international and corporate tax cases.  She is the Vice-President of the Australian Branch of IFA.  From 2018 to 2020 she was the Chair of the Recent Developments Panel at the IFA Congress.  She has a BCom/LLB from Sydney University and a LLM from New York University (International Tax Program ‘05).   Chloe teaches Statutory Interpretation as an adjunct in the LLM program at Sydney University. 

David Watkins is a Partner at Deloitte in Sydney and leads the Australian Tax Insights & Policy group. David has over 35 years’ experience in corporate and international tax across a range of industry sectors. David is the leader of the Deloitte Asia Pacific Tax Policy group. David has worked overseas for a number of years, variously in Malaysia, Singapore and New York.

In his current role, David is regularly involved in tax policy discussions and consultation with Treasury and the Australian Taxation Office relating to proposed legislative changes to Australian tax laws. David has been the Chair of the Chartered Accountants of Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ) Tax Committee, and a member of the National Tax Liaison Group (NTLG), being the peak consultation group involving the ATO, Treasury and the profession.

David has a particular focus on international tax and double tax treaties, has been a regular presenter at IFA events in Australia, has been a guest lecturer at The University of Sydney and is an Honorary Senior Fellow at The University of Melbourne.

David has a BCom/LLB from The University of Melbourne and a LLM from The University of Sydney.

Shaun is a partner in the tax and family office practice at Australian law firm, Arnold Bloch Leibler.  Shaun advises across M&A transactions, group restructures, tax litigation and global mobility.  He is widely recognised for his technical and business acumen in legal directories and regularly contributes to the debate on tax reform in the Australian financial press, including in the Australian Financial Review.  Shaun is also the Secretary of the Australian Branch of IFA.

Specialises in providing front-end strategic income tax advice to listed Australian and foreign corporates and domestic and foreign funds, with noteworthy expertise in M&A and fund structuring. Peter has a solution focussed mindset, delivering understandable advice which is designed to enable decision makers to make confident and informed decisions.

Sector expertise includes the extractive industries, professional services, property, technology and financial services sectors, and clients come from a broad base of private equity, hedge funds and property funds. Peter also provides tax advice in insolvency related situations, having advised numerous companies, administrators and creditors.

Also advises many private clients and privately owned groups.

Tax Partner specialising in tax disputes and policy. Practising lawyer (Australian qualified) and Chartered Accountant, with particularly strong experience in tax treaty, transfer pricing, international tax and anti-avoidance matters. Actively involved in the academic tax policy community, including with various universities and roles with the International Fiscal Association and The Tax Institute.

Jock McCormack is Head of the Tax group of DLA Piper Australia and a leading Sydney-based international taxation lawyer. He has specific experience in income tax and more than 30 years' experience managing complex tax matters. Jock advises various major corporations on Australian Taxation Office (ATO) tax audits, tax strategy reviews and related issues including managing, negotiation and settling challenging and contentious tax issues and reviews. He also acts for major multinational clients, including those involved in financial services, funds management, property development and investment, construction, hotels (tourism), distribution and major infrastructure projects.

Michelle is the Executive Director of the Corporate Tax Association which represents the top companies in Australia. Michelle has extensive experience in the development of Australia’s tax policy and law. Prior to her time at the Corporate Tax Association Michelle worked at Minter Ellison and in the Australian Taxation Office, where she worked in the Large Business and International business and the Tax Counsel Network.
