Illicit financial flows cost African economies tens of billions of dollars annually, and most of it moves through ordinary commercial channels rather than criminal ones. Yet every tool governments reach for to close the gap, from tighter transfer pricing enforcement to treaty renegotiation, raises the same objection: it will scare off investment. This webinar puts that trade-off to a panel that has worked all three sides of it, bringing together the civil society, government policy and investor perspectives on whether both sides of the balance can be had at once.
Moderator: Benjamin James (Partner, McCarthy Denning)
Panel:
Everlyn Muendo (Tax Justice Network Africa, Kenya)
Birhanu Tadesse Daba (IBFD, Ethiopia)
Chizaram Modline Oparaji (International Finance Corporation, Nigeria)
