Ana Cláudia Akie Utumi has become the Chair of the Global WIN Committee. We want to thank her predecessor, Jeanne Goulet for all her efforts in establishing this network.
At the 75th IFA Congress, Jeanne Goulet made an encouraging speech about female leadership. Jeanne mentioned that earlier this year, on September 7, the UN issued a report that tracks gender equality across the 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
Despite global efforts, the world is falling short of achieving gender equality. Jeanne listed 11 critical roadblocks mentioned by UN Women. She quoted the work of Claudia Goldin, Professor of Economics at Harvard University and Nobel Prize Winner, who showed through her research that female participation in the labour market in the last 200 years did not have an upward trend but formed a U-shaped curve.
