Honorary member, Prof. Frans Vanistendael passed away on 27 October 2021 at the age of 79. Prof. Vanistendael was a very active and involved IFA member. From 2000 until 2006 he served on IFA's Executive Committee, and from 2007 to 2013 he contributed extensively to IFA's scientific work, not only as member of the PSC but also frequently as Chair of one of the congress sessions.
After his retirement from the PSC, Frans Vanistendael continued to be a regular participant of our Annual Congresses. IFA is most grateful for his invaluable contribution to our association for which he was appointed Honorary Member of IFA during the IFA Congress in Rio de Janeiro in 2017.
We will remember Frans as an amiable IFA friend with whom it was a privilege and a pleasure to work and talk. May he rest in peace.
